comments: This cue was written as a main title for a cinematic feature. The sequence opens with a helicopter shot as we fly over the the snowy and mountanious landscape of Alaska. After cresting over a peak, the camera flies in behind a lone skater dashing across the countryside atop a frozen river. He eventually makes his way back towards a small and simple town just beginning to come to life on a cold and quite morning.

Alaska manages to combine both the sparse and barren setting of Alaska and the joyous and exciting experience of racing along a path of ice at top speed. The "main title" structure of the music presents itself thematically in sections. The first section depicts the helicopter flight over the snow. The music then becomes more exhilarating and triumphantly melodic as we travel with the skater. Finally, the music pulls back into a more warm, soft, and poignant tone as we arrive in the quiet and quaint town.

This is one of my most popular and enjoyable cues.
