comments: This cue was written for the final sequence and end titles from the short film Bye Bye for Bobo.

The film revolves around the funeral service for a popular clown. The film is somber and dark, yet is at the same time filled with "cartoon-y" gags and humor, due to the fact that all of the attending guests are also clowns themselves. Since the film includes very little dialogue, the score serves as the primary narrator or storyteller.

The score for Bye Bye for Bobo presented quite an artistic challenge for me. The music had to precisely "hit" a great number of jokes, but also had to maintain a more somber tone as it flows along in a sort of ethereal, somber, and reverent way. How does one write music that is both "fast, bouncy, and silly" and "dark, moody, and reflective" at the same time? Well, this short score represents my attempt to reconcile that ongoing challenge.
